Review
"The relationship between Sigmund Freud and C. G. Jung had its bright beginning in 1906 and came to its embittered end in 1913. Its disastrous course was charted by the many letters the two men wrote each other.... In 1970 the Freud and Jung families made the enlightened decision that this correspondence was to be edited as a unit and published.... In no way does it disappoint the large expectation it has naturally aroused. Both as it bears upon the personal lives of the men between whom the letters passed and upon the intellectual history of our epoch, it is a document of inestimable importance."--Lionel Trilling, The New York Times Book Review

Language Notes
Text: English (translation)
Original Language: German

From the Back Cover
'The substance of intellectual history at a turning point is in these letters. The impression is of two immensely ambitious, self-willed, often inspired men, who had set themselves apart as innovators, roped together in a long climb into a new world.' -The Observer

Archetypal splitting
By Neal J. Pollock
This is an amazing collection of letters which depict the relationship of two of the greatest psychologists of all time. Naturally, there are people who interpret this relationship in different ways, especially as a very specific situation, peculiar to the development of psychology or otherwise. I think otherwise. Life is rarely linear--it's usually Normally Distributed. Things tend to go in cycles, not straight lines. The relationship between Freud the mentor & Jung the mentee is just not that unusual. In fact, it parallels that of every child (especially males stereotypically seeking independence). There comes a time to leave the nest & for the mentee to strike out on his own--just as there is a time for a new paradigm (per Thomas Kuhn's classic, "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions"). This is precisely what occurred between Freud & Jung. It's almost archetypal. There's even something of a parallel between Jung & Father Victor White in Jung's "Letters." This book has some interesting quotes from each of the two psychologists:

By Freud:

p. 119 Take my urgent advice, arm yourself with ill temper against all unreasonable demands.

p. 121 One must try to learn something from every experience.

p. 169 I have long known that one can't change people. Everyone has something worthwhile in him. We must content ourselves with getting it out of him.

By Jung:

p. 84 What people don't know surpasses the imagination, and what they don't want to know is simply unbelievable.

p. 157 one likes human beings around one and not complex-masks.

And, very apropos: p. 462 Emma Jung: it is always the nearest thing that one sees worst.

LETTERS BETWEEN THE TWO FIGURES OVER THEIR ENTIRE HISTORY
By Steven H Propp
C.G. Jung was once thought of as Freud's chief disciple. These letters cover the period of 1906 (when Jung sent Freud his Studies in Word Association) until their final "break" in 1914. (There is one additional letter from Jung to Freud from 1923, when Jung was referring a patient to Freud for treatment.)

Here are some representative excerpts:

SF: "The leading lights' of psychiatry really don't amount to much; the future belongs to us and our views, and the younger men---everywhere most likely---side actively with us." (1907)
SF: "I regard (for the present) the role of sexual complexes in hysteria merely as a theoretical necessity and do not infer it from their frequency and intensity. Proof, I believe, is not yet possible." (1907)
CG: "(L)ike Herakles of old, you are a human hero and demi-god, wherefore your dicta unfortunately carry with them a semipiternal value. All the weaker ones who come after you must of necessity adopt your nomenclature, originally intended to fit a specific case." (1909)
SF: "It has occurred to me that the ultimate basis of man's need for religion is infantile helplessness, which is so much greater in man than in animals. After infancy he cannot conceive of a world without parents and makes for himself a just God and a kindly nature, the two worst anthropomorphic falsifications he could have imagined." (1910)
SF: "You mustn't suppose that I ever 'lost patience' with you; I don't believe these words can apply to our relationship in any way. In all the difficulties that confront us in our work we must stand firmly together, and now and then you must listen to me, your older friend, even when you are disinclined to." (1910)
CJ: "My evenings are taken up very largely with astrology. I make horoscopic calculations in order to find a clue to the core of psychological truth." (1911)
CJ: "If you doubt my word, so much the worse for you. I would, however, point out that your technique of treating your pupils like patients is a blunder. In that way you produce either slavish sons of impudent puppies..." (1912)
SF: "I propose that we abandon our personal relations entirely. I shall lose nothing by it, for my only emotional tie with you has long been a thin thread---the lingering effect of past disappointments---and you have everything to gain, in view of the remark you recently made in Munich..." (1913)

An inside view of two brilliant minds
By Diane DeArmond
I loved this book mostly because I have been fascinated by Freud for many years and now I am studying Jung. To have the privilege of reading their letter back and forth is a treat. Also there are insights into current problems that Psychology still grapples over.

Love's Peril (Lord Trent Series Book 3), by Cheryl Holt

CHERYL HOLT delivers another gripping tale of love, betrayal, loyalty, and family, proving once again why she’s hailed as a women’s fiction powerhouse. In this explosive conclusion to her ‘Lord Trent’ trilogy, readers will be sighing with pleasure and cheering with delight.

John Sinclair leads a double life. Though he’s the illegitimate son of the infamous cad, Charles Sinclair, he seems to be a rich and prosperous gentleman. In reality, he is the notorious pirate known as Jean Pierre, The French Terror. He preys on British ships, carrying out a secret vendetta guaranteed to financially ruin several wealthy families. He’s driven and determined and takes what he wants with a reckless abandon.

Sarah Teasdale lives quietly in the country at her family’s estate on the English coast. With her father’s death, she’s at the mercy of her cruel relatives, and she’d give anything to change her fate. When dashing, mysterious John Sinclair arrives for a visit, she’s stunned to learn that her stepbrother has gambled away her home to John. Everything is lost—including Sarah—with John claiming she now belongs to him and he can use her however he wishes. And he has many ideas as to the exact sort of role he’d like her to fill.

Normally, John wouldn’t have bothered with a sheltered innocent like Sarah. But he simply can’t resist. As a man who enjoys only the finest things in life, Sarah might turn out to be just what he’s always needed.

Would give it a zero
By Lindy
I understand this is a 99 cent book, but there are hundreds in the price range, even free, so bear with the fact that I hate this book, even though I love a great historical romance. Every time I begin to be engaged in Sarah, the author says something so out of character for history, you just say huh?? Example. She uses slang not used in historical novels...who said "in a jam" back then? Or he "jiggered" the lock, or fibbed? She says to him, there is something "fishy" about you. Oh and Sarah has Pink toe nail polish and she says "bully for you" and "you're pushing your luck" really? In spite of being at only 8%, here I am warning you if you're a critic of historical language, you will be irritated.

Great Writing, Unlikeable Heroes
By Lovemuffins
I've read 2 of the books in Ms. Holt's Trent series and come to realize that a lot of her "heroes" aren't any such thing. They barely toe the line of being redeemable alpha males... in part because they barely redeem. Instead they use the female characters, who are all strong, delightfully intelligent and yet have that weakness that allows them to be seduced with promises of love and forever only to be thrown over soon afterwards, and then they.... sorta grovel. Kind of make it up to them.

It was bearable for me in Love's Price because the brothers DO spend a fair amount of time making things up to the women they've wronged and doing their best to make it up to them.

While the story line around John Sinclair is fascinating and enthralling and worth a read on itself, his biggest character flaw is that he's willing to fight everyone but he's not willing to fight FOR anything. His fights are his way of revenging himself upon the people who made his childhood a misery and whose actions resulted in him being an orphan on the streets of Paris, but he likes to think that he's doing it 'for' his mother even though he knows she would disapprove of his actions. Once he finally gets something to fight for in the form of Sara Teasedale, whom he loves and whom loves him, and a future with her... he doesn't. He turns his back on it. Expected... okay... but extremely frustrating after all the fighting she's done FOR him.

Not only that, but he makes promises that he's going to fight for the life that she wants to repay her for all the fighting that she did for him... and instead he bails. You just want to shake the beejeezus out of him. And then, worst of all... he NEVER fights for her. He has to be forced, at gunpoint no less, to do the "right thing." You would think that this point in the story would come in the middle of the book... no it comes so close to the end that there is no time for him to redeem.

Instead, she's given no time to make him work for it and win her back! She's put into the position of "You must choose right now whether or not you want this a$$ for the rest of your life." Yeah he says lots of nice stuff to convince her, but he SAID lots of nice stuff before and then deserted her so how do we know he's going to keep his word this time - especially since to show up to say those words in the first place he had to be hunted down and threatened? Honestly, at the end of it, I didn't feel like John Sinclair had gone through enough growth to truly make Sara happy. It didn't feel like a happily ever after, it felt, to me, like Oh goodness this poor woman is now stuck with this sod who is going to ultimately end up breaking her heart all over again for the what... fourth? fifth time?

I recommend Love's Price over Love's Peril. Much more satisfying. I'm not even going to read Love's Promise. I got enough references in this book to the storyline and the characters to know that the "hero" in that is just as big a jerk as John Sinclair and I don't really feel like getting all frustrated again. BUT... the writing is very well done and the plot itself is great. I just wish that John had grown more, grabbed his balls and done what he needed to do himself rather than being forced to it by others.

read at your own peril
By Amelia Brown
i really wanted to like this book but i was so frustrated with the hero i wanted to pull my hair out! he's not very likable and he really has no redeming qualities. note to the author: i like my heros dashing, chivarous, and noble. John Sinclair is none of these and I found it hard to root for him. I apologize for the lack of capitals still learning my Kindle.

Royal Dragon (The Bride Hunt Book 1), by Charlene Hartnady

Dragon Shifter Novel
Dragon shifters are a dying breed. There are so few females left that, if drastic measures are not taken, and soon, it’ll be over for the species. The threat of extinction looms.
King Blaze finally accepts that there is no other option but to evoke an age old tradition.
The Hunt.
The eligible dragon shifter males must hunt a handful of females. It’s first catch, first serve. The biggest problem is that the females are human. Despite feedback to the contrary, Coal thinks they are weak and breakable. In his opinion, not capable of surviving the hunt, let alone the mating that will follow. He doesn’t believe that a lowly human is capable of birthing him a royal heir, so why has his brother, the king, tasked him with claiming one?
He can’t believe this is happening to him. Especially when most of the males in their tribe are willing to accept one of these puny females. Not him. He’s never rutted with one and doesn’t have any desire, whatsoever, to rut with one in the future, let alone mate and impregnate one. Claiming one of these females will not be an easy feat considering there are three other dragon tribes vying for the opportunity.
How the hell is he supposed to do all of this when he doesn’t want to come within a mile of one of these unsavory creatures?

This book can be read as a standalone but would be best enjoyed as a part of the series (Start with Chosen by the Vampire Kings). No cliffhanger!
The story contains strong sexual themes/language and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

frustrated
By T. Fisher
Ugh ... I'm a little over half-way through the book and I'm ready to reach in and punch the heroine in the throat. She's sooooo ridiculous. She harps constantly on not only getting raped, but on how his big "man parts" will tear her up. Even after she's been shown and proven that no rapes occur, even though she's been shown and proven that other human women are very happy with their dragon shifters, in and out of bed, she still insists that SHE will be raped and that the others aren't smart enough to know that they are being raped too. Apparently the other grown women are incapable of making their own decisions and Julie is the only one with a brain ... in Julie's opinion. Of course, all of this is going through her head at the same time that she's turned on by the guy and going on about how hot and sexy he is and that she should just go ahead and jump his bones.

So poor Coal has to put up with this bi-polar ditz, I couldn't feel sorrier for him! I'm really hoping the 2nd half of the book redeems itself, Julie starts taking meds and Coal finally gets off the merry-go-round!

***UPDATE***

I finished the book and unfortunately, Julie never really redeemed herself. Coal was great, I'd love a man like that in my life. He made some mistakes but he owned them and he changed and he didn't balk at doing either. He also didn't wallow in the past the way that Julie does. She lets her past color EVERYTHING about her present and her future and it gets really old fast.

It's not a bad story and the premise is quite good actually, it's just a sucky heroine.

Could Have Been Great. Failed.
By Leah Chiasson
This book had potential, but it tanked.
Hard.
First of all, the cheesily named dragon shifters kidnap women. They're led to fear that they will be raped, then ALL OF A SUDDEN most of the women are happily sleeping with the dragon shifters that beat the crap out of each other for the women. It moved far too fast with no explanation for anything. There should have been so much more fight in these women.
The only one with reservations was the female protagonist. Even then, she cried fear of rape until she was begging for sex.
The whole book was poorly written and the plot devices were non-existent. Plot devices were eschewed in favor of revealing most things through dialogue.

liked it a lot
By S. E. Hochstetler
at first i really did not like Coal. his arrogant attitude grated on my nerves. i did feel bad for Scarlet until she was so mean to the other women. she should have been mad at Blaze. what happened to the other women? Coal proved himself. He turned out to be perfect for julie. julie was slightly annoying in her resistance but she finally came around. i really like Flame. Blaze is hiding something. great read.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2, Special Rehearsal Edition Script, by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, John Tiffany

"The Eighth Story. Nineteen Years Later.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."

From School Library Journal
Playwright Thorne and director Tiffany (who previously collaborated on Hope and Let the Right One In) worked with J.K. Rowling to extend the "Harry Potter" universe with an eighth "installment" in the form of the script from the new West End production. The book starts where the last chapter of Deathly Hallows left off—19 years after the main events of the series—with Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione all saying goodbye to their children as they leave for Hogwarts. As Albus, Harry and Ginny's youngest son, attends Hogwarts, he is plagued by the Potter legacy—something he never wanted—and, as he's sorted into Slytherin, is terrible at Quidditch, and constantly compared to his famous father, he becomes reclusive and angsty. His sole friend is Scorpius Malfoy, the only son of Draco Malfoy—prompting further separation from his father. When Albus hatches a plot to go back in time to save the life of Cedric Diggory—what Albus views as the biggest mistake his father made—time becomes distorted and Harry is left to examine his own life, his relationship with his son, and how love can sometimes be much more complicated than it seems. This is an interesting extension of the "Harry Potter" universe, but readers should go into it knowing that it's its own beast. Rowling didn't write it (much to the fury and vitriol of many fans), and it is in script form, so it loses some of the magic that won over millions of readers back when it all began. However, many of the themes that made the original series great are still in abundance—love and friendship conquering all, facing your flaws and accepting them—so that it simultaneously still feels like a "Harry Potter" tale while remaining its own story. VERDICT It is unlikely that the script will create new Potter followers, owing to its format (reading a script vs. reading a novel is a whole other ballgame), but it's a well-crafted and enjoyable read.—Tyler Hixson, School Library Journal

Review
Praise for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts I and II

* “Series fans can breathe easy knowing this play has been respectfully and lovingly wrought. Tensions thrum, spells fly… but at center stage, as always in the Potterverse, is the overriding importance of love and friendship, especially in the face of danger.” -- Booklist, starred review

Sigh.
By Brittany
Let me start by saying this, I love harry potter. I read the books 2-3 times per year since I was a child. I've grown up with these books. These books are a part of me, I've named my children after characters in these books. I have 3 tattoos, all of which are harry potter. I'm a dedicated fan, entirely obsessed to be candid. I have waited for this book like the rest of you.

I can handle the fact that it's written as a play, I was expecting this. I was fully prepared to accept this. I waited all night for this to be released to my kindle (it's 3 a.m and I've just finished). I sped through the cursed child and my final thought was, this was disappointing .

I'm skeptical of how much jk rowling actually contributed to this. I get more of a harry potter vibe from the fantastic beasts trailer than this entire book. The plot was bad, almost everything was bad. It was like a poorly written fanfic.

It sucks that I'm saying this because harry potter is a part of soul. I went into this thinking it was everything I'd ever hoped for.

I'm not saying don't buy the book, by all means buy it. Read it. See for yourself. I'm not being cynical, rowling is the queen of my world. This is the first and likely only bad review I will give regarding her.

Just be warned, this does not feel like harry potter. This was not intricate, well excuted, thought out, or clever. The characters were not true to themselves. I think the best way to go into reading this and saving yourself from despair is to read it as a fanfic and not the true works of rowling. It would be tolerable had her name not been involved, I expected so much more.

And now I will try to purge this book from my memory and continue to live in her past works of art. I still have big hopes for fantastic beasts and that's enough for now.

I wanted to like it. I really really did
By daniela droguett
I want to start this by saying that I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I grew up with Harry, I went to midnight premiers of the books and movies. I was so excited for this play. I wanted to like it. I really really did. If you are a fan I would say read it and form your own opinion. Here is what I thought:

- Where was George?
- Where was Teddy? Because he was in the station in th epilogue.
- Where was Hugo? You know the other child Ron and Hermione have.
- Lily and James Potter… MIA for most of the play. Like James? Was he even in it?
- Why was Ron running the joke shop? He is an Auror. WHAT HAPPENED TO GEORGE? WHY WASN’T HE RUNNING THE SHOP?!
- Let’s talk about Ron. Why was he so non-Ron like? His character, all jokes no supporting and listening to Harry and Hermione. Also he is hardly in the play.
- Harry’s relationship with Albus. Everything about this is upsetting.
o In the last book when they are dropping off the children at the Hogwarts express, the kids are genuinely confused as to why everyone is looking at them and Ron makes a joke saying “I’m famous”. It is deduced that the kids do not know the extent of everything their parents went through to save the world. Yet Albus feel the weight of his dad’s legacy. Huh.
o Then we have Harry SEPARATING Albus and Scorpious. Let’s go back to that epilogue where they all see Draco with his family and a joke gets made about not playing with his son. Which then Hermione corrects and Ron says to beat him on test but not to get too cozy and marry him. Again, making it seem that everything in the past is in the past. Then there is Harry’s history of friends at Hogwarts. He knows. He would not separate his son from his ONLY friend.
- Albus choosing Slytherin for a friend? Awesome.
- The rumors of Voldemort having a child and that not being stopped by the ministry? Stupid. The ministry would have stopped panic about an heir being possible. Also Voldemort was conceived without love. He never cared about having an heir because he wanted to be in power. An heir would have been competition for him.
- More on that point. Bellatrix pregnant. She would have loved to mother the Dark Lords child; there would have been no greater honor. But. This does not work with the original time line. Bella is never pregnant, she fights at the battle. And then the gang goes to Malfoy manor there is no baby in sight. And if. IF. Voldemort would have wanted an heir; wouldn’t he have made it a horcrux and offered it more protection?
- Sexual tension between Scorpious and Albus. Yet Albus has a crush on Delphi and Scorpious on Lily. I feel as though either they should have been opened about their romantic feels towards each other or this should have not been included.
- The flashbacks/dreams Harry has. When Dudley is mentioned (yay!) and you find out petunia is dead. I know she was horrible but I do think Harry would have deep feelings about his mother’s sister passing. I liked the blanket part.
- Bellatrix husband somehow got out of Azkaban and raised Delphi. How did he escape Azkaban? Because there is no way he got pardoned. So how did he escape? And after escaping how was there no alarm over him escaping. Sirius Black escapes and the freaking muggle minister is alerted! Then there is a massive breakout and it is all over the daily prophet. But hey, this guy who tortured the Longbottoms into insanity he escapes and it’s cool. Yeah, sounds legit.
- The new prophecy. First of all: how did it happen with no one knowing about it except Delphi. Who made it? It’s sounding more and more as if this witch convinced herself that she is the heir of the dark lord.
- Cedric. Cedric a character who was noble and good and died oh so tragically. This character who was loyal and kind and helped Harry turns DARK SIDE?!?! BECAUSE HE LOSES THE CUP. WHAT?!?! CEDRIC A DEAD EATER HAHAHAHA NOPE NOT FUNNY. Thank you for turning a good character and completely changing him for the worse. Thank goodness you did not include Sirius Black in your play.
- On that same characters changing note. The trolley lady…. Hm. I will just leave it at that.
- Polyjuice potion. That s*** takes a month to make. I read the chamber of secrets. Many times. It takes an effing month. And you need a piece of the person you are changing into. But wait not, here I got some polyjuice potion here in my back pocket and I just happen to carry my dad and his best friends hairs at all times. So let’s change into them and break into the ministry.
- Btw that potion is not necessary because you can transfigure a HUMAN. Seven books and that never came out. Must be very dark magic.
- On the dark magic note. Harry duels Delphi (a eighteen year old) and she is stronger? Um. Do we not recall Harry being a teenager and he beat Voldemort. His wand is the s***. So yeah how does this even make sense?
- The no sugar diet. WHAT. Sounds like something movie Ginny would do, not book Ginny.

"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all pity those who read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”
By Charlotte
Spoilers!!

Huge Harry Potter fan-- 16 years of reading!! So I was incredibly excited for the new one. I keep wondering if there's a therapy group where all the disgruntled fans can congragate and weep together. I'm also refusing to consider in cannon as it was not JKR herself who penned. What they did to the INTEGRITY of these characters. I'm sick over it. The entire 7 book series was about friendship, love and loyalty, and Harry knew that; and most importantly, knew that's what made him different from V. You're telling me, he, Ron and Herm didn't continue to live and instil those values in their children? Rose was a bully, who was prejudice against someone without knowing them first. Harry would never said he wished his kid wasn't his, or sacrificed his kid's only friendship over gosip. Harry wouldn't have choosen work over time with his family, which after all he'd been through WAS ALL HE EVER WANTED.

If someone were to ask me, what is your favorite thing about Harry Potter?, I would hands down reply: Harry Potter's moral integrity, that is the heart of the series. It's his choosing to sacrifice himself for what is good. It's choosing friendship over suspicion. It's a defiant effort to turn towards the pain of loving and losing, then choosing not to love at all. It's choosing to do what right, and best for others even when it hurts, is inconvenient, or scary. It's fighting for truth and justice, even when you're the only one doing it. And when you move away from those central themes, the integrity of who we know Harry (and friends) to have PROVEN himself to be, you destroy Harry Potter and all that he stood for for 7 books. This new book is the worst kind of trash, the one that destroys the soul of our hero.

Also, what they did to calm, measured, quirky, wise Dumbledore, making him a weepy, rude mess, who spoke in cliches, issuing a completely unnecessary "apology" to why Harry was at the Dursleys, when Dumbledore had already apologized profusely for that in HP5 AND severely told off the Dursleys in HP6 for their abusive behavior! It was just phony emotional porn!

And Ron's a proper idiot who got drunk during his wedding?! He would have never disrespected Hermione like that. Hermione was neither clever, nor charming; she didn't come up with hardly any solutions. And what a weak, floppy mess Harry was during the fight scene?! His 16 year old self could have fought better. It's like they sucked the soul out of the books, like a dementor wrote it!! This is not even pointing out the horrible plot holes! No, I refuse this book is real. It's a bloody mess!

X-23 Continues To Be The Best Solo Series The X-Verse Has Had To Offer Recently
By Joseph Born
Marjorie Liu really knows how to craft stories with very good drama, simple but effective action and little bits of humor. With X-23, she's proved that Laura is far more than a clone of Wolverine. Liu is joined by Sana Takeda, who's style seems perfect for this series. Phil Noto also does some work, which looks good.
After some surprising revelations from the Daken/X-23: Collision crossover, Laura is trying to find her place in the world, which is something that ever teenager can relate to. She is heavily depressed, and we see Wolverine and Jubilee (Who was turned into a vampire in X-Men: Curse of the Mutants ) have a sort of "intervention" for her. What I love about this three issue arc is we get to see Laura and Jubilee become "friends." Marjorie Liu does a fantastic job of setting up this fledgling friendship between two unlikely people. It's nice to see her help Laura resolve her depression. Sana Takeda's artwork is vibrant and beautiful. I love the way Laura is drawn, it really adds a new side to the character that we haven't really gotten a chance to see. While the artwork has a shiny luster to it, it adds a unique quality to Takeda's artwork that I heavily enjoyed.
The second arc in this volume, 'Chaos Theory', is a four issues long and features the Future Foundation and Fantastic Four. A mysterious force is hunting Laura, and it's up to her and the FF to stop it. Marjorie Liu writes an interesting chemistry between X-23 and the FF. There is a little bit of friction between them, yet they must overcome it to deal with the imminent threat. Phil Noto joins Liu for this arc. While his style comes off a little plain, there is a certain realism to his artwork. Also he draws subtle expressions and great looking action.
Overall this is an excellent entry to Laura's life. This is a large improvement of the first volume and the Daken-heavy 'Collision' crossover. There is much to love in this volume. Liu's ability to blend drama, action, and unlikely paired characters works well here. Takeda's fantastic artwork really complements her writing. Newcomers could easily pick this up and Liu draws fans in even deeper with this volume. I'm definitely looking forward to the next (and unfortunately final) volume of X-23 to be released soon. Four and a half stars out of five.

Great Read
By caiuniverse
I haven't been reading comics for very long, but I've already become really invested in Laura Kinney and the rest of the X-Men. This story line is great, the stories flow as the characters develop, and both of the styles of artwork are beautiful. This series is really great because it puts a lot of emotion into the story line and focuses heavily on characters and relationships other than just action. This book featured almost all of my favorite X-Men, (X-23, Jubilee, Wolverine and Gambit), as well as the Fantastic Four.

The first part of this book starts with Remy noticing that Laura is very heavily depressed and calling in Logan and Jubilee to try to help her out. Laura's fears of hurting those around her and never finding a place in the world where she feels safe or comfortable are relatable to many people her age in their own way. Later they discover that Laura's 'trigger scent' is for sale again, and they attempt to intercept it before anyone gets hurt. The second half of the book features Laura meeting the Fantastic Four (Future Foundation??) and trying to stop a mysterious force that seems to be following her.

I do want to warn readers of this book that Laura can be seen cutting herself at the very beginning of the book, so don't read if you think that could upset or trigger you. (The X-23 books do contain a lot of blood in general if that bothers you.)

Definitely a great purchase, I plan to read this book many more times.

I love X-23
By Annie
The first half of the book is excellent, featuring X-23, Gambit, Jubilee and Wolverine. The characterization Liu gets done is awesome and you live the story through the pages. It has emotion on it, I really think x-23 is a great comic for the female fans, it's a pity it got canceled. The second half features the Fantastic4, in my opinion this is a downer (I so prefered Logan, Gambit and Jubes!), still a good purchase. You get to see what X-23 is going through, Liu does a fantastic job.
